A public event to both raise awareness of military veterans experiencing homelessness in our community and to raise funds for Fifth Street Renaissance's Spring Street Veterans Renaissance as they help local homeless veterans become self-sufficient.

About the event
Why: This is a free public event to raise awareness military veterans experiencing homelessness in our community, and to raise funds for Fifth Street Renaissance's Spring Street Veterans Renaissance as they help local veterans experiencing homelessness become self-sufficient. Feel free to simply attend, or to participate in the campout by registering for a campsite and "raising the rent" for your campsite by getting sponsors to raise money!
There will be short program with local dignitaries around 5pm and military themed movies beginning at 7pm. An evening meal will be provided as well as coffee and donuts in the morning. Fifth Street staff are present overnight keeping an eye over the site and address any guest needs throughout the night. The staff and volunteers stay behind after to leave the property as it was before the event.
Where: Medics First Ambulance, 200 North Grand Ave West, Springfield, IL 62702.
When: The Campout starts at 3pm, Saturday, October 18th and ends by 11am, Sunday, October 19th .
Who: Everyone! Families, church groups, scout troops, businesses...anyone interested in helping is encouraged to attend.
How: "Raise the rent” and get your camp site for the event by collecting pledges or donating to Fifth Street Renaissance. We are asking everyone to have a goal of raising at least $100, but all contributions will be accepted. Donations can be made on our Kindful Page.
Please note: General donations or donations from campsite sponsors can be made at the event itself or using the Kindful link above.

What to bring: Boxes will be provided. Bring your donation form, items to decorate your box shelter, sleeping bag, pillows, flashlight, deck of cards or other quiet games. Boxes may be picked up prior to October 18th at:

Please do not bring: valuables, electronics, pets, alcohol, tobacco or weapons.
